The box is all done apart from the trimming. While I had a spare 10 mins i decided to strip most of the ice out of the "hotrod" because I've had a complete change of plans for that. I now have all this and a little more to squeeze in the cally while trying to keep as much boot space as possible since its still being used as my daily.
Image
The other problem I have is I need to keep it discreet because the car lives its life out in the street while the "hotrod" stays tucked up in the mancave! :(

Been a while since I been on but I did manage to get the box finished and trimmed.
Image
Unfortunately I didn't have as much grey carpet as I thought but the black will do for now. All I have to do is build the amp rack. This took a little more work than I originally planned.
Image
(Nice picture of my hand! ) Image Image
That's a nice little subtle install fitted just in time for my trusty head unit of 15+ years to break so I've tracked down a temporary stand in.

Unfortunately while fitting the amp I managed to break the rear seat belt. Managed to track down a replacement (cheers Steve!) And got a pair of new gators too just to freshen up the trim a little.
Image
Hasn't been a bad month for the motor but I think the brakes might be the next job in hand as I'm getting a lot of vibration through the pedal under heavy braking.

So it would appear the mighty ecotech has finally died! :bang: It's running on 3 cylinders, burning oil faster than I can put it in and smoking a lot! I've weighed up the pro's and the con's of a rebuild over a transplant and decide a new heart was the way to go. After putting out some feelers I've managed to bag myself a V6.

This little lot is on its way to me right now and should be here by Friday. I'm sure they'll be a few posts from me asking for help and advise over the next couple of weeks.

I'm planning a mini overhaul. Nothing major just a lick of paint here and there just to tart it up a little ready for show season.

Definitely gonna do the belts and give it a service but was going to check the clutch. Funds are still a little tight just after Xmas.

After I've bought the 5 stud set up off steva it's already put me in quite a big hole and I haven't even started yet! I'm sure it'll be more than worth it in the end :)

After taking delivery of the pallet and sorting out the loose parts and trying to check for any missing parts I was left with this.
Image
I decided to take it apart to give it a little clean but as always it never just ends there!

This was the state of the gearbox once I'd removed it
Image
Gave it a good clean
Image
I decided this wasn't quite as good as I wanted so gave it a lick of paint while I was on.
Image
Gearbox done I turned my attention to the engine.
Image
This was as far as I wanted to strip it down. It would be enough to paint the block then noticed somebody had very kindly glued the oil level sensor in (I presume it was to stop a leak!)
Image
Thought it was best to take the sump off and reseal it properly. As of tonight this is how the engine stands.
Image
I'm hoping to get the new cam belt next weekend and get it fitted.

I'll let you know how I come on then and if there's any tips I can offer to help out.

Whilst stripping down the top end ready to get painted I noticed someone had lifted the oil cooler and re-sealed it.
Image
Now I'm not saying it was leaking but when I noticed the heads had to come off to get it out I really didn't fancy doing this job when the engines in the car. I'm pleased I removed the heads though because I noticed this:
Image
Image
Again I don't think the head gaskets were gone as I couldn't see any burning around the sealing rings but.....................I do think they were on borrowed time. So pleased I pulled it apart before I fitted it!
 It looks like this tonight ready to give it a fresh coat of paint tomorrow.
Image
That's the worst over now. From here on in it starts to get rebuilt!
