Temperature display unit problems

Any electrical issues

by Phil » Thu Mar 11, 2004 1:51 pm

Temperature display is going hay-wire!
When I get in the car first thing in the morning it's been reading around 5 degrees. - All Okay.
I start the engine, and the temperature plumets to -3 or more, or the display goes to --.-- (or whatever!) After driving a while it gradually reappears and increases to a more believable reading.

Any ideas what this could be?

Thanks.

Temperature display unit problems

Sounds like a dodgy connection somewhere. Have you checked the sensor under the bumper to make sure it's seated correcly?

If it is, it may be worth replacing the sensor itself as that could be the problem.

Sensor is about £15 from Vaux, cheaper from other places.

Phil,

Sensor is knackard mate. Thats what mine did. Plenty of people scrapping at the moment sure someone could let you have one for a couple of bob.

Cheers

Cheers guys. That sucks. It's just over the year old new from vauxhall!!!!

Will check it's seated correctly first though. As I have had the bumper off recently.
