Please help me battery problems

coulld be your alternator is on the way out mate, the battery you bought new should have a guarantee, take the car to halfords and they can check the battery, and the alternator

oh yeah i have a 6 month alternator for a 2.0ltr calibra if it turns out to be that

Easiest way to check the functioning of the alternator is to start the car, have the engine running and then DISCONNECT the negative lead ( normally black ), if the car carrys on running ( maybe even pick up the revs ) then your alternator is fine, if the car stalls the alternator is not charging.

Do you have the volt meter gauge in your car? that would also be a good indicator.

I hope this helps, ive read through and im not too sure what the problem is, batteries will and do die, whatever you do, do NOT leave a battery on a concrete floor, this WILL KILL IT.

check your alternator, mine had that problem a while back, turned out 1 of the wires had come loose

what does it do to your battery? mines out in the garage on a concrete floor, has been for about 2 weeks now.

Im not sure how or why, but i was told at college that this is a real no no.

I would hook it up to the car, or a charger and check it, if its ok, then put an old rubber floor mat or something under it.

I double checked meself on this just in case ( cos im an old git ) and this is what i found

Now doing that will damage the alternator, I would not try that one as the voltage regulator will be going crazy, way way back you could but not with modern electronics in cars, you MAY send a spike through the ECU

and same with the concrete floor one.its an old wives tale

Putting a battery on a concrete florr will suck the charge out of it, due to the concrete being cold. Cant see it permanantly killing it tho.

But the problem here is that I bought the battery from the scrappy .

Now there could be your problem

why not charge battery and take to local tyre place and get them to check for you, make sure its been charged overnight


but second hand batteries that you don't know how old they are are very suspect
