Fault code 74-MAF Sensor fault on X30XE Conversion. Help!!!!

by Rebel Scum » Wed Oct 14, 2009 9:46 pm

I fitted an X30XE into my 2.5 at the end of last week and it is running fine on the 2.5 ECU, except for when i boot it.If i boot it the engine management light comes on, then goes off when i slow down.If i accelerate smoothly it doesnt come on.The fault code is 74-MAF sensor voltage high.Has anyone else with an X30XE conversion had this problem???

broken wire or wrong connection...or the MAF itself is faulty

I had no problems with the maf on my 3.0, even with the Omega twin throttle bodies fitted.

IIRC though, dicky had the same problem with his. You could even see it on a couple of videos he put up.

Have you tried 'gently' cleaning the hot wire/tile in the maf itself?
I used to own this Calibra...
I now own this one.

carefully cleaned it last night with electrical contact cleaner, and going to try it this morning to see if its ok.If its still no good i might try the 3.0 maf off the omega.

Did you use the complete omega inlet manifold on yours?

Yes I did....

Omega intake in my old Calibra

It isn't a straightforward swap over though.

You have to space engine mounts, extend wiring, fuel pipes, intake pipes, vacuum pipes, re route throttle cable, etc etc....

and the less said about sorting the throttle position sensor.... :angry-screaming:

Right, took it out earlier today and gave it some stick on the local motorway and the eml light didnt come on :D ,so hopefully cleaning it last night with contact cleaner and some of the missus's cotton buds has done the trick. Thanks for the replies guys.
