pic request, v6 alternator + fan please

hi guys and gals, as above really. didn't get a chance to look at the se9 today as was to busy tinkering with the mazda and tidying up the se8 as she's going saturday

anyone got a pic of the rear of the v6 alternator and maybe the fan just so i can get my head around what it should look like

the car is parked on gravel at the moment so i cant jack her up but i have a battery on charge for the weekend so i can whack her on the driveway to take a proper peek at the offending item!

here's what i can see so far!

as i say, i'll have a go at getting closer at the weekend one the se8's gone and i have more space.

take the drivers side wheel off and you can get a good look side on

drive shaft off,drop the down pipes gives you loads more room

ha ha, and there lies my next problem! no locking wheel nut key! "doh"

dunno if its a vauxhall jobbie, has three small holes.

yep sound like vx poo
(cant remember the exact size)a 16mm bit and a big hammer would do it

hammer the bit into the locking nut and remove as normal

hamer on a impact socket then break it off, there is only 2 wires going to the alternator so dead easy the cooling fan is under the black plastic tube to the right of the engine in your first pic with the white lable

if the recon unit is a duff one, can i get new brushes for it and hope for the best?

i'm expecting to find a melted alternator when i take a look!

if i was you i would take it out and get it recond or buy a new one as its a night mare of a job so i wouldnt be wanting to do a temp job and hope for the best

is there any way of testing it to c if its not the alty at fault?

i just wanna cover all the possibilities as they aint cheep!

battery not charged enough, if i put the battery in and turn the key it goes nuts as its not charged enough.
