another day another problem (flat battery)

by vinny_69 » Wed Mar 10, 2010 1:56 pm

it all started last friday :( leave the car for a few hours .......click...click.....click
to be honest im fed up pushing it, yeah i know not a good idea to push start a car with a cat (convertor not a moggie) but ive got a spare anyway :D ive checked the battery thats fine, replaced the alternator to be on the safe side still flat, now ive got a spanking new starter motor that i will fit saturday as someone thinks it might be that pulling the extra current, but i have my doubts, something about the solenoid or something.

my question is this
if it's not the starter motor what else should i try?
a friend of mine thinks i should be pullinga fuse every time i park it up for the night but looking in the fuse box thats kind of a long winded approach to the problem, ive had a wee search so ive checked all the interior lights glove box, boot and such

i dont suppose anyone has compiled a list of all the multimetre reading from all the fuse numbers when the ignition is off have they?

im starting to think posting something about stuff i have no knowledge about is a bad idea
i will replace the starter motor and if that dosnt solve the problem call an auto sparky as i don't think it will end well if i have a crack at it

Is the battery actually holding its charge? How did you check it?

the battery has been tested by 2 garages and its in good working order 78% it just seems to not have enough power to fire the engine up to full speed even after a run it struggles to fire her up.

so i do have some kind of large drain someplace
