Brake problem

by Calibra_Mike » Mon Mar 08, 2010 6:00 pm

Just went to drive the calibra and I have no brakes, they work but you have to press dam hard to make the car stop... its like when you try and brake with the engine off... when i turn the key all the lights come on for the brake system, not hearing the abs noise you normally hear when you turn the car on... checked the ABS fuse that ok... could it be a sensor thats gone causing this or is it something worse with the servo not working?

is that the fuel pump priming... i thought it was something to do with the abs... guess not then... lol that works fine cos the car starts...

Ill have a listen... If there was a fault with the ABS would it cause this? is this mechanical more so then electrical? I find it strange how it was working fine yesterday and now today its not... and like I said all the lights come on when you turn the key...

according to the haynes manual it sounds like its going to be a servo/vacuum problem...

problem solved... the plactic adapter bit that comes out of the servo had snapped where it joins one of the vacuum pipes, bit of super glue and electrical tape and its fixed... another part to change in the not to distant future... dont suppose anyone has one of them bits laying around?

temp fix... should be ok right?
