v6 front springs vs turbo ones

by DarthKalEl » Fri Jul 16, 2010 12:43 am

Recently I put 18” (225/40 tire) vectra c opc line wheels on my cally turbo on factory springs and KYB excel-g shocks. Looks good and tbox still works but I have a little problem at the front, with bit more speed (40-50) and some little bigger road dips the front tires sometimes touch plastic under wings. I recon that jus 5 or 10mm lift or stiffer suspension will sort this out, but I can’t find some stiffer standard height springs. Are the V6 front springs a bit stiffer maybe (different part number in EPC) so that maybe I can use them, or maybe someone has any other suggestions?

I think you'll find that the tyres are the problem. most use 215/35 on 18" wheels.
Mark...........It's Red........It's a V6............It's an SE9!..............and She's bad.

as Mark has pointed out its more likely the tyres , i had 215/40/18 on my old 8v but it was more than 40 and 50 mph before mine would scrape. i had to be doing at least 70+ before mine would bottom out
BETTER TO HAVE A CALIBRA AND NOT NEED ONE, THAN NEED A CALIBRA AND NOT HAVE ONE!!!

Yes, I know that 35 profile tires will fix the problem, but I really like how 225/40 looks on the car. And the problem is there only at front while going 40-50mph or more and running on some bigger dips and bumps so think that 5mm or 10mm lift or stiffer springs, it must be some way I can do that.

Looked in EPC and the part number for V6 front springs are different then the turbo ones, is there any other springs that can be bit stiffer maybe? Can the spring’s “lose their performance” during time and that maybe result lower height and worse damping?
