REAR SUSPENSION RATTLE SOUNDS

I've been hearing rattle sounds towards the rear...

It sounds like there is something is loose, back there!!!

At first I suspected that it might be movement, due to worn Rear Axel Bushes!
They were inspected, and were surprisingly found to be still in great condition...

So while I had the rear inner trims removed, I conducted a Test...

Have you chack the shocks?

I tightened up them Top Nuts, and the Rattle Sounds reduced greatly...

Whilst driving with a person in the back seat, there was NO rattle sounds at all!

So I'm thinking that it must have something to do with, the Rear Shock Bushing or Mounts!

Sorry but what am i looking at in the vid?....that top mount doesnt appear to move....just the camera moves lol

I too have rattling from the rear end on mine....oddly just seemed to start after i had 4 new shockers fitted.....I had presumed it was my hatch strutts rattling as they are abit loose/worn on the cup and ball mountings.

I am going to take the struts off at some point and drive around without them too see if that sorts it.

Mate... The Video is more about listening, rather than watching...

Before I made this video, I placed my fingers on the top nuts and felt the slight movement with each rattle...

I'm going to check the bottom mounts for wear, but the rattle decreased when the nuts were tightened!!!

So I'm thinking that they are most likely, to be the cause!!!

Do Your rattle noises, sound the same???

Yeah mine are like clunky rattles....and my top mount nuts are tight, and i dare not tighten them any more...

However, i dont have the concave washers like you have over the top mount rubber, i just have large flat washers.

I got these Rear Shocks Bushes off a Barina/Corsa...

The bottom Section is like a smaller version of the Donut 'Rear Axel Bush'

I'll try these out soon, and see if the rattle sounds persist!!! :think:

My son is doing the same thing ...trying to get a nosie from the back found

so far has removed the rear boot struts...even bought new ones...still there, removed them also ...and was still there

took parcel shelf out ..still there

checked the shocks and is now going to replace all the top mounts, so got this little lot (along with new shocks) Still to fit them yet

but did check the ones on there ..and we found the spacer was missing (its the dark gray part in front of the lower mount rubber)

what we did find though ...put some tape round the part the rear seat locks into...noise is all but gone now...still think the shocks need done and he hopes thats it ( I have my doubts ...its a Calibra after all)

YES... I FINALLY SILENCED THAT ANNOYING RATTLE!!!

Yesterday I fitted the Newer Rubber Mount, Bush and Sleeve...

The Rubber Mounts were fairly worn, but they were NOT actually the problem!
The Metal Sleeve that sits in the Bottom Mount, was the cause of the rattle...

These were replaced, and NOT a single rattle sound anymore!!! :dance:
