Gear lever removal

Just brought myself an irmscher gear knob to go with the kit, just wondering how you got the factory one off? Some people have said you need to cut the old one off, is this true?

It is not threaded, it is a friction fit. You might need a wrench to help twist it.

It's also a very tight fit at times. So the methods are to take the gear Leaver off and soak in boiling water first....or just cut it off
