Hub to driveshaft torque setting on 2.0i 8v
Does anyone have the correct torque setting for the nut that holds the hub to the drive shaft on a Calibra 2.0i 8v? The manuals are a bit confusing so wondered if anyone knows.
Re: Hub to driveshaft torque setting on 2.0i 8v
tighten nut in 3 stages
1. 130 NM
2. slacken off
3. 20NM + 80 degrees then if holes dont align for split pin (if castle nut) turn to 90 degrees

I'm being thick I know - but just so I understand completly... I understand doing them up to 130NM, then slackening off and then tightening up again to 20NM but what does the + 80degrees and - 90 degrees relate to? Are NM divided up into degrees or are we talking about turning the tightening bar?
Re: Hub to driveshaft torque setting on 2.0i 8v
it means tighten it by an angle of 80 degrees .....so imagine it was a clock
so roughly from 12 to 2 .
to be quite honest.......... just damn tight is all all I do

your also meant to use a new nut and washer
Re: Hub to driveshaft torque setting on 2.0i 8v
As Fraz said 'to be quite honest.......... just damn tight is all all I do' - that I understand. I was assuming but unsure the 80 degrees was as you say turning the bar another 80 degrees but was even more unsure about the -90 degrees.
How the hell did they come up with the formula - 'just damn tight' and everyone knows what they mean.
Thanks everyone for their advice.
