Front Splits

by zeebie » Tue Mar 02, 2010 9:07 am

Hey guys, Just after a bit of advice on this one.

With the front door with the split set up its got in there, the speaker and the tweeter what would you guys recommend replacing them with? my passenger side ones aren't the best performing any-more and showing signs of ware and tear.

My head unit is a sony cant remember model number ill check it later.

But, I currently got a AS-5100 PowerVow 5-channel Amplifier (1 x 1500w, 4x 350w channel) powering my 10" sub and 2 x 450w max 6x9" Boss BA692 4way speakers

When I get home from work I will update with more details. But any current advice would be great ;)

Note: updated details as i am now home!

In mine i have recently put 2 infinity door speakers, 2 infinity tweeters, i put them in at first and the sound quality was shocking, and then added crossovers and wow, what a difference! So i would definately recommend some cross overs :)

most companies produce trhee of four ranges of equipment. go for the second best with any of them. you tend to get alot more for your pound. the very best of kit comes with a massive price tag but you can get a very good quality set up from the slightly cheaper components.

think: vibe space*, pioneer TS-Q,fusion EN-CM etc

I'm looking at replacing the Front Door Speakers...

Are the Original Speaker Mounts, discarded when the Speaker is replaced?

Or are the mounts removed, and then fitted onto the New Speaker??? :?:

It's all one piece, remove speaker and promptly discard all into the bin

I made up some mdf spacers from 18mm that extended further into the door card that the crossover mounted to

With the tweeter I removed the standard one and re-used the mount for the new ones.

Some creativity with a dremel and hot glue was required to get them mounted correctly

Replaced the Blown Speakers today...

Discovered that the Vectra front speakers, are exactly the same as Calibra front speakers!

So that worked out well for Me...
