Ben's Garage & Girls (not work safe)
Re: Ben's Garage & Girls (not work safe)
I reckon they just wanted to have a perv Dan! lol
Just a little update today - the Calibra sprung a fuel leak from behind the o/s/r wheel. I know already the fuel lines are bodged and need replacing, I was just hoping to delay it for a while. They currently consist of short sections of old, brittle, plastic hose that are linked by short sections of rubber pipe. The whole lot needs ripping out for one continuous length of pipe.
Anyhow I decided to wash the cars for a break
Here's a piccy of the new beast, still needs a lot of tidying up and work before it's ready for the track test.
Gave that a quick clean too
I'm back off out now to measure up the fuel hose I need, then off to buy (and hopefully fit) it. Fingers crossed I can get the Calibra running again and MOT'd very soon! I'm also keen to see the results of the Rain-X I've applied to the windscreens in an effort to make them more wet weather friendly.

Re: Ben's Garage & Girls (not work safe)
Right just a little update
I'm booked in for a trackday this month and Nurburgring next month, so it's time to get the Type-R up to spec. It's let me down in the past with braking issues and a very light rear end. So, a 3 part plan to fix that!
Part 1)
I've ordered this 328mm 4 pot kit by Stoptech. It's a £2000 upgrade but they are stiffer calipers than even Brembo and are rated as the best money can buy. I've opted for an optional pad upgrade for them from Stoptech to Ferodo DS2500 pads.
They are being fitted in just over a week
Here's the details if anyone is interested
http://www.eightspeed.co.uk/acatalog/EP ... _Kits.html
Part 2)
I'm booked in at Grinspeed again to have some additional rear toe added, to stabilise the back end
Part 3)
I've got some new lightweight Team Dynamics alloys to reduce the unsprung weight
I've opted for Federal 595 RSR tyres for these, a semi slick that is rated very highly among trackday folk as being better than even the Toyo R888
Only £90 a corner so not bad price wise either
Here it is, pulled out of storage and looking a bit sorry for itself
And after a jetwash, including blasting out the crap from the wheel arches...
Hopefully it'll be a lot quicker than before
Other plans include re-locating the battery to the boot to improve the weight distribution
More soon

Re: Ben's Garage & Girls (not work safe)
Okay more update on the Calibra first, it's passed it's MOT with 3 advisories
Next up I got the wheel alignment checked
Toe is obviously going to be wrong as I just built the steering arms with new track rod ends and guessed where they should sit.
Camber I'm ok with but I'm baffled as to how the caster can be out, given it's got new lower arms, balljoints, bushes etc and the strut tops offer no scope for adjustment. I'll have to investigate further.
Meanwhile on the Type-R I fitted new aero wipers
And removed the now redundant front door speakers to save a couple more kilos
And turned up to Grinspeed for these to be fitted
All on and done! The pedal feel is much improved, the brakes are now far more progressive and the stopping power is nothing short of god-like! I hadn't hoped for anywhere near this much success. The new wheels clear them more than adequately. It was quite funny bedding them in, trying to get them up to 5-600 degrees, Grinspeed's method was "kick their t**s in" right from the word go. And it worked, they feel amazing.

Next up was Cadwell Park trackday with a couple of mates!
Matt in his Clio 172, on freshy Toyo Proxes T1R and a set of DS2500 pads managed a 2min 5 secs lap
Tony in his Golf 2.8 v6 4-motion with R32 brakes and Rainsports managed a 2min 1 sec lap
Here's my in-car attempt to crack the 2min barrier...
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BU7GSc2227E
And pics...
Park straight
Kerb riding at the bottom of the mountain
More kerb riding!
Hall bends
Here you can see some battle damage, I binned it coming out of Barn corner
Overall it was good, I did a 1 min 48 which was quicker than attempts I've witnessed in RS4s, M3s, Porsches etc. I don't think the car is particularly quick so it must just be raw talent and a bit of luck! The brakes helped, I was able to brake from 120mph to 30/40 in a very short distance.
Stuff I overtook:
Westfield
Elise
M3
MX5 Turbo
Impreza
Golf 4 motion
Caged Clio 182 on slicks
Porsche 944
Megane 225
So I'm happy at that

Re: Ben's Garage & Girls (not work safe)
I've been to the 'ring again, my best time was 8:45 BTG which in itself seems okay, but I was frustrated by traffic and by my own mistakes. From Kallenhard to Wehrseifen I'm such a p***y, and again the right hander after the first jump at Pflanzgarten.
But anyhow here is it:

And here is one of me chasing down a 911 turbo and almost binning it!
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ieJ8P4Cdrcw
I got back from the Nurburgring and had a long think about my car situation. I think I've pretty much mastered front wheel drive, so time to move on and keep learning. I also doubt i can go much quicker in the Type-R without a fair bit more power, which is expensive and means forced induction. So I've decided to break it and focus on the Porsche for a while.

Re: Ben's Garage & Girls (not work safe)
Here's the new colour scheme on the Porsche, and one of the latest girls in my life. She's super dirty even by my standards! Fully bisexual (as in not just putting on a show for the guys!), meteoric sex drive and low self esteem. Perfect!
There's a couple more girls coming this way in a week or so's time! Two very hot brunettes! More soon.

Twisty track looks like fun! Here's me doing some kerb riding in my Mg at Knockhill, basically an integra/civic chassis, so very capable and what a noise!

Cheers dudes
I did a bit of a photoshoot today with the Calibra, seeing as it's got it's freshly painted Irmscher kit now finished! I've been playing around heavily with filters and lenses to get the arty look I wanted for some of the shots.
And some in the car park
And a couple of black and whites
I'll have a big update on the Calibra shortly as work is progressing really well!
