I'm thinking of removing it... Has anyone removed theirs? Better or Worse?

I didn't know there was a weight in there.
No need for it if you've fitted an aftermarket spoiler.
My boot lid occasionally tries to hit me on the head but I suppose it is because my support struts are worn?
Does the boot lid need to be as heavy as it is?

You should remove the inner trim, to check on the Rear Wiper Motor...
Spoiler or no spoiler, I think that the boot lid is heavy enough...
Indeed it places even more work load on the Rear Struts...

Did not know there was weights fitted. Mine doesn't try to hit me on the back of the head, more like caves my skull in every time I'm in there. Have tried a couple of different boot struts on now and there seems to be no difference. The boot does however carry a little extra weight!

This could be Your Solution... I'd say it weighs at least 3-4 Kgs... To remove it will take about 15 mins...

Will do it in the morning. Got a few odd jobs to do on it anyway. Fingers crossed it'll be the end of the hard hat every time I go shopping.

Solution: Always close the 'Boot Lid' with either a Door open, or a Window down...

I've stripped down 3 or 4 UK bootlids and not found these weights. So they aren't on all cars.

Make the effort...

By keeping the window down a few inches, it makes closing the Boot Lid so much easier, and it also reduces the impact, that 'Air Pressure' has on the Sunroof...
You then close the window, using the key... Your Sunroof will benefit, in the long term...
