Do you let anyone else wash your car

by James_Mould » Mon Jun 15, 2015 9:50 pm

I took my Astra for its first service at Vauxhall today. As part of the service you get a complimentary car wash and vac. Im very picky about how my cars are washed and what products are used. So when I dropped my car off this morning I asked them not to wash it. Plus I had only washed and glazed it yesterday. Obviously the young lady behind the service desk forgot to pass the message on. When I picked my car up they told me everything was fine and that my car had been washed. I thought fair enough and ket it go. How ever when I got home and looked round the car it was terrible. Full of water marks and the windows were stpreaky. I think the £5 car wash up the road could have done a better job.
I shall be ringing up tomorrow and complaining.

Had our new Astra 2 weeks and was determined to wash it this weekend.

Never got the time so Jane took it to the tesco guys, tbh apart from a few water marks/streaks it looks spot on. Was £8

Washed the turbo tonight though, NO ONE get's near that. lol

I do if I'm feeling lazy! The lads at the local drive thru do a good job and listen to my requests, being, "don't use much pressure with the hose and keep those naff chemical sprays off my car!" Saves a lot of time if ur gonna polish etc too.

Vauxhall rang me today (they said it was a curtousy call) to ask if everything was ok after my service. I told them I wasn't happy with itbeing washed. They offered to have the car back and correct it but I told them no thanks I don't trust anyone to wash it again. So Ive just spent 3 hours tonight washing it again and polishing all the water marks out. The only vehicle I have washed is my Mitsubishi L200 I have for work but only because we have a contract with a local car wash and besides when Ive been through a field in it I don't fancy wahing it my self.

I don't think I've ever paid anyone to wash a car for me. Doesn't seem worth it when I can do both cars inside 90 minutes.

Mine only usually gets a wash when it emerges from its winter hibernation, and before a show. Even then its a quick trip down to the EU nationals staffed car wash. £5 later and its all shiny again :)
I used to own this Calibra...

Yup, I'm more than happy for anyone else to wash my car & I really don't give a toss about the odd water mark here or there.

If I'm feeling particularly anal about it (ie, Calibra before a show) then yes, I'll do it myself but really don't have 3 hours to spend worrying (or even wonder why I'm worrying) about a few water marks on a car that will probably get rained on the next day, get general driving crap on it the minute it's driven or get shat on by a winged beastie overnight!

There's so much more to life! :D

I would never let anyone else wash my cars!!!

I'm far to tight to pay for that kinda thing!!
I tape the garden hose to a soft broom and go for it!
I do give the glass a clean off with glass cleaner (as its free from work)
I used to be really fussy and have a collection of detailing products.
I'd sometimes not go out in it because rain was forecast for later!!

Cars are made to drive, use and enjoy.

I didn't enjoy it getting dirty. So now I care less and enjoy more :)

Good thing too. Yellow cars look dirty pretty quick.

Do you let anyone else wash your car.....Errr no.

I get a funny look everytime i state do not wash it or add (and charge me for) screen wash every MOT/service. This goes for both my cars (the others a SEAT leon)

I actually make sure a car is clean before taking it.
The 2nd car: 1997 SE8, as it came out the factory (probably better) minus the removal of the cassette tape storage and original head unit (my only two mods) The daily driver: 2015 SEAT Leon FR 184 and Saab 9-3 2.0T 175 Wagon
