Willie's Calibra DTM Turbo

by willie » Tue Apr 12, 2011 12:29 pm

Hi folks! Just said I'd say hello and show you a few pics of my Calibra. I bought it a few months ago and have spent the last few weeks doing some major work on it. It has been in Ireland since 2005 I think and I'm the 3rd owner of it over here. I think it had 2 owners in the UK previous to that.
It has just had a new Clutch, Timing belt kit, Sump gaskets, Exhaust gaskets, and a bottom ball joint.

I also treated it to a set of Opel Vectra B i500 BBS wheels which are 7.5" x 17" and 215/40r17 Federal tyres. A nice little upgrade to the 16's!

Anyway, after all the work being done, this happened......

The front part of the propshaft broke on my way home from my Dad's shed where we did all of the work! I can't figure out how that happened as it seemed fine when we put it back in but I suspect we did something wrong.
Anyway, it's running 2wd now until I get a new knuckle joint for it.

So, what do ye think?? :D

Thanks for the warm welcome guys! The plan is to keep it standard as possible and get everything working properly again. There is quiet a long list of snags to be sorted on it apart from the propshaft.
I got a call from a mate at my local Opel dealer who managed to source the knuckle joint that is broken on the propshaft so I'll order that and some transfer box fluid to keep things right. I'll probably fit a new accumalator bulb too as I doubt it has been changed before.
I have a busy few weeks ahead of me.
