After a little hiatus work on the project has again recommenced. I've organised for new front and rear glass to be fitted next week. The dash strip I made a while ago has been fitted and is now leather wrapped. Refurbed and refitted the oem wing mirrors and finally sorted out the sticking boot lock mechanism. Wheel well panel is also complete and now just need to get my hands on a space saver spare. Will likely spend the next week or so sewing the rest of the rear seat covers... haha. These will take weeks to finish.

Went with these also

Thanks for reading

Update...

Windscreen and rear tailgate glass are now in. Backs of the rear seat are now completed leaving just the back seat base to tidy up. I'll get more pics of the rear leather up once I'm finally done. Ordered a new ac condenser and dryer and serviced the air con pump. New alternator also on order. Waiting on the bump strips to be painted and the roof rails also. Spent a heap of time lately painting and tidying up clips, brackets etc etc, all those little things that more or less get overlooked.

After being sent the wrong AC condenser unit first time round it turns out the replacement unit they sent is also the wrong one.

It appears if you want the job done right first time you need to enlist the services of a Brit :alright:

I emailed Advanced Radiators in Newcastle Upon Tyne and Kevin got me sorted out in a matter of mins. He also suggested an international freight carrier and I'm happy as punch. Good ol' fashioned service and know-how... highly recommended.

Removed the old exhaust this morning as the one I got from a donor car is in better shape. Took out the exhaust heat shields as well and gave them a good cleanup and lick of bitumen.

Inspected the center section of the underbody today for loose or cracking protection coating. There was no rust on the floor on the inside when I replaced the carpet and I'm fortunate that none was found when I checked underneath. In fact the original coating is still surprisingly soft and pliable so that is a blessing. Of course conditions here are no where near as harsh on the underbodies and they are not exposed to road salt.

So I was able to tidy up some minor scrapes and clean up some damaged areas and then re-coat the center section of the underbody with a light coat of rubberised bitumen. I'll finish doing the rear end when I drop the suspension in coming weeks.

I refitted the manifold with a new gasket, tb gasket and clean injectors with new O rings. Fired right up after the rail had pressurised and there were no leaks that I could see or smell but I want to be certain. Holy !@#$ it's LOUD without any exhaust especially backed into a tin garage lol. Exhaust side tomorrow, new gasket and a clean-up and heat coat and fit the donor system.

The car's all back together again and very happy with the results. Idle is smooth sitting at about 950 rpm and no coughing or spluttering when squeezing the pedal :band:
I ended up bypassing the banjo fitting under the manifold and instead connected a hose from head outlet directly to the expansion tank. No more air-locks so far so this is promissing.

Exhaust note is nice with the donor system on but not too keen on the rice bucket box hanging out the rear but I'll swap that out once I'm up and running.
