Didnt know that you could get a light as standard :?

What sort of lights you looking for, neons or a service light?

Cant you just run it off the battery, ground off the bodywork and put a switch in between?

cheers

Ian the wires wont be there for the light ...I looked everywhere for them on mine as I fitted the heated washer jets (have no idea what I need them for though ) on mine which also had the light connections on the same loom. Checked the diagram and it seems the power supply comes form the headlight washer relay..which was only on the very early cars

what I would do is find a switch like they use on the boot or doors (also some alarms) find a constant live and take that to the light then use the switch to supply the earth ..should work fine

I seem to recall for the OE under bonnet light to work, the lights (Sidelights at least) had to be turned on.

The under bonnet light comes on when the lights are on or past the sidelight setting.

Its on even if the bonnet is closed

If you dont use the alarm plunger by the alarm horn then just use that to turn them on and off.

Live to the sidelight live and earth through the plunger
