Jacko, it could be the reverse light switch that's at fault. On a manual box it screws into the housing itself, I assume that's the same on your auto but it's not definite!
Really easy to swap. I'd suspect that if fuse 12 is intact.
Well I have same problem on my auto (intermittent lights on or off gently moving the drive selector) and nobody here can tell me where the switch is. I think the switch is located next to the drive selector lever so I'm gonna strip the centre out at weekend and have a look.
