Another Trip Computer

Any electrical issues

by calibra » Thu Apr 29, 2004 11:02 pm

Hi,

I brought a trip computer off ebay

I have one problem, the connector on the back of the trip computer has been cut off, so I have lots of wires coming out the back.

Wires are about 1.5" long.

What do you guys think I should do

Regards

James

What year is you car coz the connector is part of the wiring fitted to the car. You may have the connector fitted to the loom already just tucked away behind the dash. The connector on the back of the trip comp wont be of use coz if the wiring is there the connector will be behind the dash anyway.

Hi

Thanks for the reply matey

It's an M Reg 1995 2.0 16v

So the cables on the back of the trip computer should not have any connectors on them, as the connectors are on the plug behind the dash?.

The plug that goes into the trip comp will be on the wiring behind the dash, from the year I would say that a good hunt behind the dash will show the wiring with the plug already on it so the one on the comp will not be needed

One last thing did you get the switch for the comp aswell that goes where the coin holder is :?:

Thanks mate.

The plug going in to the trip computer is not needed as their's one already in the car - thats good news.

Yes, I did get a switch.

I have ready your guide on this site and it looks helpful

My '95 8v had the wiring, so I think we can safely say yours will too.

Have a hunt behind the dash, with your left hand. Take the glovebox out and have a good feel about. Takes some finding, and a cable tie or 2 will need cutting, but its all there in the guide:

Once its been installed its likely to need programing for your car:
