Air Con Not Working

Any electrical issues

by Smurf » Sun Feb 08, 2004 6:04 pm

Hi All,

Well my potential new toy has air con, but the owner's told me that it doesn't work...

Apparently, when you press the button the engine revs rise but the light doesn't come on in the button and it doesn't produce any cold air.

Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks!

Probably just needs to be recharged - take it to an a/c specialist and they'll do it for you

If the recharge does not sort it the problem will lie in one of two areas.

1 - one the aircon pipes runs parallel with the Exhaust (on the V6) and it get's holes burnt into it very easily. Budget £180 for this part plus a long wait. They only make them when they have 200 orders.

2 - The condesnor. Will cost about £60 from a scrappie (but cannot guarantee if it will last long) or $400 from Vauxhall (that's a trade figure).

If I were you I would negotiate the price accounting for the above. Ask if he is will ing to get the Aircon regassed, which you will give him the cost of the re-gas ontop of the asking price. If the aircon still does not work then negotiate a price accordingly (I suggest a drop of £250 to cover cost of getting it fixed).

hehehe, sorry Mark! Nothing's for certain yet, but let's just say all going well I'll have it next weekend! I haven't looked forward to something so much for a long time!!

Not getting my hopes too high though... he may sell it in the meantime, or when I do eventually get to see it it may turn out to be a wreck and not what I expect. I'm keeping my fingers and toes crossed...
