Stupid Question time - MFD

by Rob Himself » Sat Feb 14, 2009 10:37 pm

Fitted my trip comp, but er.... how do you use it/how does it work?

The instant fuel consumption flicks from miles/gallon to gallons/hour, and the average fuel consumption doesn't seem to be an average - it's constantly changing.

Secondly, how do I change the time?! I can't suss it out.

Lastly, when I press and hold both buttons, I get some weird code................ what does this do?

Ta for the naivety :p

I gave a lift to the pub to a young colleague who sorted it out while driving along seem to recall he used the button to switch modes and the end of a paper clip into the two tiny holes that look like dots in the diagram to change the time etc ..... Failing that have you got any children aged 5-12 in the family...they seem to be able to sort these things in no time that are totally beyond me.

It's not the most straight forward of trip comps lol.

Also... don't think my average mpg figure is right - after a short 5 minute journey across town, it came out as being around 190.

rob you may have the wrong chip for your engine in the comp if so you will need it re programed at a cost of £15-20

if you press both buttons together take a note of all the numbers that come up and i will be able to tell you if it is the correct chip in the cpmputer!

also to get a good reading of avarage mpg you need to reset all af it then travel for 10 miles at a constant speed to get it! usually late at night on a moterway would help, less trafic :assshaking:
