Outside airtemperature gauge fault

I hava faulty outside air temperature gauge, it reads 88

any ideas what is wrong?

look under the front bumper near the front passengers side..it is poking through a wee hole just behind the air deflector

This site is so useful.

Had my temp guage displaying -40 when its 20 degrees outside for ages. Didn't want to replace it because i thought it would cost a bit lol.

Ordered one now. :-)

i had this many times on my cavaliers,just had to do mine again today,third time on this cav i have now,keep catching it and destroying them lol.

Yeah. Think thats what i've done. I remember feeling a wire that seemed to be connected to nothing in that corner lol when i was sorting something else. Now i know why.
