ECU flashing/ fault reading?

by James_Mould » Sun Jan 31, 2010 7:41 pm

Please bare with me as I have never had to do this before.

I decided to run take the Calibra to work today to give it a run. On the way home the engine magement light came on :( I thought I would have a go at reading the fault codes. I found this site to help me:

http://everything2.com/title/How+to+rea ... me+GM+cars

Is this correct? only when I fash mine it flashes 10 times, pause, once, pause, then flashes again 10 times.

Any help would be very much appreciated and if any one has a better set of instructions or list of fault codes to the one on the site above it would be a great help.

Thanks in advance.

I finally managed to get out and look at the cally today. Got the hang of flashing the ECU now. The web site above helped alot. Shows up fault code 13 (oxygen sensor). Checked the connection and seems ok. So I guess the sensor is worn out. I will get another one from Vauxhall tomorrow. Also did a few other bits and pieces too.

Is that with club discount Fraz? Still better than if I had the fault code read at Vauxhall.

That just seems a rip off!

Thanks I will bare that web site in mind. Think it might be a trip to the local breakers yard first to see what I can find, they've usually good range of Vauxhalls in.

oh I would not be fitting a used one, they are considered a serviceable item and should really be replaced roughly ever 5 years anyway

Ok, thanks Fraz. On that advice I will get a new one then. At least then I won't have to worry about it.
