EML Again But No Codes

by eco16v » Sun Mar 07, 2010 4:12 pm

EML came on yesterday, but when I did the paperclip test, im just getting code 12 and code 92 Camshaft sensor due to just having the ignition on and engine not running. Disconnected the battery overnight but EML came back on and car is in safe mode, did test again, just same codes as before.
Any ideas?

You should get code 12, (separator code) and usually code 31 crankshaft sensor with the engine not running.

Have you tried reading the codes with the engine running?

The ecotec camshaft sensors are know to fail though, and a replacement sensor is available with shielded wiring iirc.

Tried it with engine running but codes wont flash at all, any time ive ever done the test b4 code 92 has came up as well as 12, but when plugged into my mates code reader it has never shown up a problem when engine is running.

As Mark said with engine not running, you will always get code for Crank, not for the Camshaft.

Check the connection for the camshaft sensor 1st
