Air con help, re-gassed but still not working!

by spoon » Thu Mar 11, 2010 11:50 pm

hello

i have a problem with my air-con. my overview of air-con systems is very limited so I'm looking for help.

i have a 1997/98 v6. the air-con did work when i bought the vehicle but soon after i spent a year long project rebuilding the car. when it finally went on the road the air-con no longer worked. i had the system re-gassed but still no joy. the switches both light up now, and, when activated the engines rpm changes but the compressor will not engauge. the garage checked to see if the compressor was working, which it is, they also checked the wiring from the relay to the compressor, also fine.

what could the problem be, where should i start looking?

can it be a faulty switch, relay or?

please help...

well its quite complicated, theres pressure safety switches etc.the engine rpm will alter even if clutch/compressor isnt driving.

you really need wiring diagram for this.you need to be sure the refrigerant pressures are correct...to low and the compressor wont run.

the compressor works when it is earthed out, the compressor is fine.

it must be a switch, sensor, or relay. are there any common problems with the electrics or an earthing problem?
