found a plug!!

by Calibra_Mike » Sat Apr 10, 2010 7:15 pm

FOund this little bugger under the airbox, someones shorted it out by sticking a bit of wire in there, as far as i can see it goes off to the loom somewhere behind the engine, have a look at the pics and see if you can make sense of it?

thankfully mine still runs ok, but it is concerning when you find plugs just tucked away like that, whoever did it didn't even have the sense to cover the wire over with some insulation tape... cowboys!

Just had a quick look on mine, can't see anything that would be that long. Could be from a knock sensor but can't see without having the car in the air.

What colour wires go to the plug?

it looks like the rear knock sensor, would have thought it would put up a fault code doing that

right... I took the wire out and fired the car up, EML didnt come on... tried doing the paperclip test with the wire in and out, no faults...

The wires going to the plug are Brown and Brown/Green or it could be Brown/Yellow, they are very dirty and faded...

Been looking at the wiring diagram in the haynes and really all I can see is the Inlet Manifold Temp Sensor that uses Brown/Green...

I'll keep investigating...

I ran my hand down the cable as far as i could and it seems to join up with the rest of the loom, I would need to get under the car to have a proper look as to where it goes...

I thought the lambda had three wires on it?
