ABS code 56

by sofaman » Sun Apr 17, 2005 7:22 pm

Went to a friends to check over his car so he can sell it.

He has a 'N' plated ecotec with the abs light on

done the paper clip test and got these results :-

12 test mode
41 n/s front sensor (no surprise there)
56 ?????
12 test mode

I'm sure i've done it right but what the hell is 56 all about - done a search on here to not avail. It's also not listed on topbuzz's site

how much is a new sensor BTW ?

Bizzare.. but once the other ones sorted, i'd not worry about it unless the light stays on.

The only reason i asked is because i know it can be confusing to keep count sometimes, and the spacers between codes arnt that much more than between code-parts..

the only "6" are
16 LH Front Solenoid ( Relay & Connections )
46 RH Rear Speed Sensor ( Air Gap & Operation )

So if you're 100% certain you didnt get confused and mark the first part of one code as the end of another etc etc... then I can only suggest to replace the sensor and try it, they're about 50-60quid from vauxhall but i dont know if they're on the parts discound for club any cheaper, or if autovaux do them any cheaper?

cheers stu, autovaux do them for £40, not checked at VX yet.
He's since told me the back brakes just don't work, and deffo don't lock up. Will replace the front sensor then look at the back end.
Thanks again

You'll have a job to lock the rears.. they're designed not to lock really.. so unless he's on about gravel or mudd etc then thats quite normal
