Changing rear discs and pads on Turbo

by Chavtastic » Thu Apr 21, 2005 8:31 am

As the title... how hard?

I will soon have new rear discs and pads but I've not done brakes before.

Can someone please advise?

- Remove wheel
- Remove rear caliper (allen keys or normal nut+bolt)
- Swing caliper out of way
- What holds the disc on the hub? Torx bit?
- Remove disc

Is that it? Anything I've missed?

Also sizes of tools required would be a huge help.

The Haynes manual will help you here. The discs etc are of a similar design to the 4 stud hubs (so I'm told).

Yeah you've pretty much explained it there.

Are you doing the handbrake shoes?

Make sure the handbrake is OFF before you try taking the disc off or you'll not move it.

Good point I wouldn't have thought of that lol.

How easy are the handbrake shoes to do? Can I leave them and still do the discs and pads?

Also does anyone know if the pad retaining clips are easy enough to do?
