Abs Light on and its not working

by PuppiesBalls » Thu May 15, 2008 5:59 pm

Ive put on my new Brakes and the abs light is on and the abs isnt working,
ive bled off the brakes, but the light wont go out,
i took it for a little spin up the road today and it locks the front quite easily(was quite damp)
any idea what could be up with it?
Cheers Guys

Possibly you've dislodged a sensor or sensor cable. You can do the paperclip test by shorting out the following pins A+K on the diagnostic plug. Then turn on ignition and the ABS light will flash the code out starting with 1 flash then 2 flashes this is repeated 3 times then the fault code will be flashed out. Post results and we'll let you know the problem

Looking at the faults codes it seems that 37 is the stop lamp switch(pedal switch).

no rear lights in at the moment, would that stop the abs working?

Wouldn't have thought so, its just a good way of testing the switch with out getting under the driver footwell

Do you mean the whole lights or just the brake lights are not working ?

No lights at all mate, im just re spraying the car at the moment, so the lights are out, and yer they are after burners.

Its a problem with the ABS, it defiantly ain't working there locking up!

When light is on ABS is disabled. Might be worth waiting till you've got car back together before continuing any fault finding
