Vibration coming from various places..

by DC 12v » Sun Jul 13, 2008 8:12 pm

Before I start, I know my balance is out, but this is a little over the top to be balance related.

Upon turning while doing considerable speed, there is vibration - almost like a jack-hammer going off coming from the front wheels.

Once again at considerable speed, sometimes when driving through dips/crests in the road, I feel a vibration coming from just infront of the driver seat

Upon turning at low speed, I can feel a resistance when turning the wheel left, it is not a "clunk". It makes no noise, but imagining that turning the wheel is free, then tightens momentarily, then frees up once more. This is what I mean.

Any advice on these niggles?

TIA
Jay

That makes about much sense to me as asking you the exact mA reading of 2 LEDs in serial..

What do you mean?! :-\

where the top of the suspension strut goes into the engine bay, there is a doughnut shaped thingy that might be excessively worn

Oh! I know. Ok.

I'll get the appropriate tools and make sure they're tight.

Any other suggestions?!

get the balance checked and dont forget the rears too and see how it is after that.

The balance is out, no need to check that as I already know.
That will be sorted shortly, I should imagine their being great improvement thereafter the balance, however some of the vibrations are quite simply unnerving!!

I pulled over to check my wheel nuts the other day.. *just incase*

So it's time I pulled my finger out really.

you wouldn't think getting the rears balanced would make much diff.untill you do it. i couldn't see anything out of my rear view mirror before i got it done.

how does your car feel when slowing down?

Slower.. :D

All vibrations stop.

At 80 I feel the back wheels, at 120 I feel the front wheels.
The jack-hammer comes in at anything over 100 when turning (curving in the highway)

The vibration on the steering wheel and rear of the car I know is the balancing - so I will get that sorted shortly.

Which are the droplinks? Would the ARB links have anything to do with it also?
I will be checking the susp. struts too...

Good to know! :D
One definately needs replacing, the other will be just to keep it equal, then I'll go from there.

Difficult to remove/fit the ARBs?
