Lowered cally opinions please

by coxy » Tue Aug 12, 2008 7:49 pm

Lowered the cally at the weekend with brand new spax gas all round but not over happy with it. the front seems to low and the rear not low enough. I also fitted new lower arms and droplinks while i was at it. It all fitted well and it drives very nice indeed inspires confidence in the corners and does not feel like a boat any more. But I now get a bit of rubbing on the front arch on fast dips in the road or when turning hard on a car park or whatever.. Standard rims with 205/55/15 tyres. I am thinking of getting a couple of 16mm spacers machined to lift the front up a little bit I dont think i will be a able to fit 17 inch rims on with it this low. Do you think i should complain to the supplier?

To be honest i wouldn't have bothered lowering it unless your cally lives on a motorway!! I live in the country and cant wait to change mine back to standard! Or is it me just getting too old?

Its my second car got a works van so dont use it all the time its a toy but when i do use it i do a fair bit of motorway but thats the reason i only went 40mm I didnt want an extreme ride. i have the shocks on medium and its not harsh at all but i have not ried to drive it hard in the lanes because of the tyre rub issue on the front. I think i will try the spacers.

Mine is on standard shocks which helps for a softer ride but its still too low to drive hard on country lanes. On a lovely straight which has no gateways or junctions where i live i can no longer go over 60mph as it bottoms out! I have been down there doing 100 (missus called for an ambulance)!
