New brake discs, pads all round and now mega squeaking!

by sinbrad » Mon May 04, 2009 5:50 pm

Ok, as part of my recent overhaul of many things the brakes were one of them. I've had new discs, pads etc fitted and they do nothing but squeal when applied. I've had the brakes
stripped and rebuilt by VX and they still squeal. I had drilled and grooved discs before and didn't have any noise what so ever. I've now got solid discs all round and wondered if this was
the problem. The pads are VX pads so don't think it's them. Any ideas?

cheers

Just over 130 miles. I was thinking that they needed bedding in but didn't know what the average mileage would be to achieve this?

Not a Calibra but my sons Corsa, he's just fitted new discs and pads and you can see the Copper slip on the back of the pad.

Not me Fraz that would be Toby that's the way he was shown at college, he's bloody good with brakes and they only just fit in the wheels.

Copper grease was put on during both the first fitment and the second strip and rebuild, still squealing. Is there a difference between slip and grease or is it just a different name for the same stuff? Is it a case of more rather than less?
