Are V6 and Turbo 20mm Lower???

by EddeyDancer » Sat May 19, 2012 1:51 pm

According to the Calibra Site, the Turbo/V6 are 20mm lower than 8v/16v models...

Has anyone put this info/theory to the Test???

I was always under the opinion it was only ever the SE5 and DTM's that were the only Calibras that were lowered?

I'm going to remove a Rear Spring from a 8v/16v Model and compare it with the V6 Spring...

And Post some photos with Tape Measurements, of course!!!

Stay Tuned for the Results!!! :!:

SE5, LE Turbo and the DTM are the only ones that had Irmscher 25mm lowered springs fitted at the factory ..along with the rear inner arm bush to alter the camber

the V6 may sit lower due to the weight of the engine

and it seems the site V6 calibra is also a bit confused as the only 16V would be the Turbo and they forgot the SE5 which is an 8V

Special Edition V6's:
There were no engine modifications made to either the SE9 or V6 DTM editions.
As with the entire Calibra range, all SE/LE modifications were purely cosmetic (apart from the DTM and one of the 16v SE's - these featured tuned suspension)

and ride hight would be lower, dont mean the springs are 20mm lower

V6 Std Suspension
V6 suspension uses V6 specific springs with standard calibra shocks. Ride height is 20mm lower than standard 16v model

As Fraz says its only the DTM and LE that came with 25mm lowering springs all other cars came the same height, i would think that you'll never find 2 cars (even with std springs) that will be the same height now, iv got 16v front springs with 25mm drop on the se2 turbo looks great and handles like a its on tracks
