rear heat sheild hand break problem permanant fix sorted
hi, as wel all know calibra's cavalier's carlton's and senator's suffer with the problem of the shoe retaining pins coming loose and having to bodge and use Vectra pins and all other matter of things to fix long or short term, I have been intouch with a local engineering firmto try solve this problem.
we have come up with a design that
1. has a life time gaurentee
2. made of stainless steel
3. easy to fit with out taking out the hub and bearing
and
still been able to retain the standard pins and shoe set up.
we will be looking at making proto types in the next month or so so I will keep you all updated as it all takes place and hopefully manage to get a good price on these too

just get slightly longer pins and a spring kit...put the pin in from the back (can use a washer if the hole is now wider) and they will just stay there .....might have to bend pin a wee bit and take the top two hub bolts off though

But if heat sheild is totally shot it where the pins go in then what?

I have a new set of front and rears that will get powder coated before i fit them. I will also be fitting the rear hand break springs at the back of the shoes so the tension on the springs pulls the shoes to the back plate and not trying to pull out the retaining pins, I found that worked well when the rear shoe springs on my old car started to rip the retaining pins out of the back plate.
