back quarter window removal!

by big_gordy » Mon Feb 15, 2010 6:05 pm

just thought i would post up re the above topic as i done mine and swapped over my normal windows to my tinted windows from my green car

thanks to stu for helping. when doing this i found that they are a hard to remove as one of the normal windows shattered. so we came up with a plan! cut a little bit of the metal away so they could slide back in without damaging the outside rubber and this worked a treat!!!! :ugeek:

here are pics of the removal and what we done

the how to is as follows
this involves taking the back seat belt of the back quarter card, the trim that goes from the boot where the parcel shelf sits off then remove the plastic nuts off, then cut away with metal snips a little bis of metal just for the top row and put new glass in!

hope this is helpfully to someone and stops any windows getting bust or rubber damaged...

Dont know my way round this bit of the car...exactly where please are you cutting the metal...I would like to replace the gutter / trim strip above the window so want to get the existing window out and back in.
Also, did the window come away fromthe rubbber ok or was it glued in?

Thanks in advance...and I salute you all for having done this job.

the window is only held inplace with about 10 plastic nuts and not glues in the rubber strip is in place with philip screws!

the metal i cut was the top row of the window as seen in the pics with the titles tellimg you!

job will take a good few hours because u are taking most of the back interior out to get to it!

pic 1 shows the metal cut away from 1 of the hole on the top row pic 2 is before i cut it :geek:
