After Market Gear Knob

Guys got a new knob for xmas oh err, I removed the old one, but underneath is a plastic bit, didn't want to remove this as it looks like the reverse lever tension spring needs it, is that right or when removed is the spring kept in place by something else ?

I'm guessing the plastic thing left behind will pull off and the new knob can then be fitted to the shaft and the reverse spring will use the bottom of the new knob for tension ?? will going to give that ago at the weekend.

it will depend on what gear knob you have got the one on mine still has the plastic lift

You have to get the proper one that Richbrook make
it has the wider gap at the bottom so the reverse lift
can come up
