how can people judge the cars if they dont look inside them?
i know it was raining but in order to vote for best engine bay you must have looked in some cars?
who decides who the judges are? No one asked to see inside mine
i have spent a lot of time and money on my car i was there early friday and one
of the last to leave on saturday....As a club member I think i have a right to ask

Judges are long term members and past winner of "best in show" judging is normally done at 1.00 to 3.00 on Saturday but as you know that could not be done so judging was done on Fraz's instructions, im sorry if you feel you have missed out, but you will still have it all for next year mate

hi all, personally in my opinion there should have no judging taking place, people arrived late on the friday and then people left at the crack of daylight on the saturday morning and the show was cancelled, and having been in a few clubs over the years i was always told that your car had to be on the stand and owner present to talk about their own car and any improvments carried out. therefore in my opinion and only my opinion no awards should have been given out. well done to the winners anyhow.

Ok let me try and sort this out

1. since this years awards had already been paid for and had been engraved with the date 2012, it meant they could be flung away …or used and the judging done as I have mentioned by telephone with several long standing members/mods and pervious winners of various categories of the awards
2. The show was actually cancelled at 3am on the Saturday morning; prior to this as far as any one was aware the show and thus the usually awarding would be going ahead. The fact that it was flooded to the point Billing was evacuating people to the leisure centre by that time meant the show was never going to happen at any point in the future, and I had already spoke to John Ankerman who confirmed this
3. So no one had by then been asked to open any boots, bonnet, or any other part of the cars. As before that point there was no need, if we had knew what was about to occur, then perhaps that could have been done, but before the 3am point of cancelation the show was still going ahead as normal as far as we all knew
4. I was called and asked what we could do about the awards. Later the next day And I said we should do it based on what we knew about the cars there and Prior knowledge of the condition and work been done
5. Now since we had already got and paid for these and after a few calls between myself and Mr C, who had been calling others. It was decided that they should be done based on what these people know about the cars that had been present up to the point of the show being cancelled (3am Saturday morning)
Now I was not present so I stayed out of it and left it mainly to those that had actually seen most if not all the cars there. I was advised of the final names and I also agreed on that decision

Now this is in 30 years the first Billing show that has been cancelled as far as I am aware (apart from once in 2004 I think when they held it in |September as they did not book the date beforehand)

So it is quite an unusually occurrence, if we had not got the actually trophies engraved into the glass, then we could have used them again next year, but alas they had been.

I trust that explains things to your satisfaction

Fraz I definetly dont feel as if I have missed out but I feel
there is a huge conflict of interest when the judges are
winning prizes.I just think its unfair and unethical and i'm
sure theres a few other members feel the same.

I don't really see what your on about with the "judges are winning prizes"

now from what I know the people at Billing up to the point the show was cancelled ...with a Calibra (and in no order) and please correct me if its wrong

Shaza
Pinner Man
Craigboy......................excluded from Best Presented
Ray
V6 Steve....................excluded from Best in show and best ICE
Callyman....................excluded from Best engine bay
Phantom
Mark1........................excluded from Best Interior and Best Presented
BarryS
James Mould
Ally
Steve Turbo
Rich.........................excluded from Best engine bay
ytsrik
Norrie.....................excluded from Best Interior
Lee johnson

now there was also a WHOLE lot of others that could have been there that may have had a lot better cars than these people, there could have been some new members that had stunning boot installs that would have knocked spots of everyone in all the awards....BUT the show was cancelled and they also did not get the chance to show off their cars

I have tried to explain it as best as I can

But based on the names above Craig....what would your list be may I ask??

and don't forget assume you have not seen the boots or engine bays of all these cars since last year and also the fact some of them cant win a category for 2 years

at the end of the day what has happened has happened and i don't think it will change now, alot of people put a hell off a lot of money time and effort into their cars me personally I have put well over 2k (too scared to add it all up) but I did mine because its my car and its how i want it. If I had won something its a bonus, but I go more for the company and a good laugh with the other club members

and thats my opinion on this whole matter

hi all just reading the comments about billing and about judging and so on, as it was my first official outing with you all im not sure as to what goes on about awards and judging on cars. my opinion as a new member is that every car that was there at billing was a credit to its owner and im sure if the sun had shone a little things would have been differant for us all. for me winning something for my car yes would be fantastic but just to show it is good enough i get a real thrill when people look and take photos for me that and getting together is what its all about. calibras are getting rare now and to show what can be acheived by us all is i think the most important thing, congrats to those that won something and as for as the best car there or anywere else we go i think should go to............. us all!!!
