(Excuse the dirty car, it needs a wash)

Re: My '95 16v
Did a couple of small jobs on the Calibra this morning....fitted new genuine Calibra contoured front mudflaps, as the mountings had gone on one of my old ones, so bought a new pair...didnt take pics of that as they look the same as the old ones, just newer lol
But, i also did abit of work on the rear mudflaps..
I'd never really been a fan of the White plastic griffin on the Calibra rear mudflaps, always thought it looked cheap in White, or that it looked like it was supposed to be Chrome and it had worn off....anyway, i'd looked into getting chrome ones and was even going to get the new style griffin but I would then have had to get a new one for the boot badge and also for front grille to complete the look, so stuck with the original design.
I bought a pair of these from ebay:
Very good quality and quite a bargain too at £4.90 each delivered.
Took the old White griffins off each flap and cleaned the flap with Flash cleaner and degreaser, and made sure the mounting area was spotless with white spirit....yes i know they have gone Grey! lol, i'll sort that:
Peeled off backing and stuck new badges on....damn tricky to get them centralised and straight....i did a decent job of getting them central, but the n/s badge isnt straight...but once they were on, they were stuck fast:
I'm really chuffed with how they look, and IMO it has freshened up the mudflaps and rear end nicely.
I know Chrome isnt everyones cup of tea, and some of you will hate them lol

Mate, Looking Good...
I also agree, that the white badges look cheap...
The new badges certainly add some sparkle to that Rear End...
A few other suggestions:
Some nice NEW Chrome Rear Badges on that tail gate...
Some nice new rear number plate lamps with LED's...
A new Sporty looking 'Bee Sting Style' radio aerial...

Glad you like the mudflap badges, I'm still abit annoyed i didnt get the n/s one aligned properly though!!
Thanks for the suggestions, but...
I hate rear lettering badges, and always debadge all my cars, it's one of the first things i do...so that wont be happening lol
No point getting new numberplate lamps as they always fade and go yellow, i bought some a couple of years ago and they have gone like that, and i dont like the look of LED lights in numberplates, looks naff IMO.
and the aerial....erm, its already got one?

Such a shame, my suggestions didn't appeal to You...
Only the Pre 95 Calibra should be debadged... The Chrome Badges really do add Spark...
The Rear Lamp Covers will always fade, unless fitted with LED's, but that's your choice...
As for the Aerial, the Bee-Sting is the smaller Metal Sporty looking type...
I noticed the Huge 'Upgraded Look' on The Ghost, after I did these basic things!!!

Re: My '95 16v
another couple of small but essential jobs done today, new ignition escutcheon and an as-new 2nd hand bonnet alarm sensor.
Firstly, the escutcheon..
As you can see in the pics the original was past it, quite worn and the rubber was breaking down going sticky, and bits were coming off all the time:
Original:
New one in't packet:
and fitted:
and the bonnet alarm sensor:
as you can see the original had the normal rubber concertina boot split and useless...it still did its job, but it bugged me so...lol:
and its replacement...This was actually from a Zafira and cost me £4 , same part number as original but a slightly different design as you can see:
and fitted:
It's the small things that make a big difference as they say.....well these make a big difference to me anyway

Nice One...
A fellow Perfectionist...
I changed these parts not so long ago as well, and a few other 'Engine Bay' bits...
Any Progress is Good Progress, not matter how Big or Small...

Re: My '95 16v
An update on some engine work i carried out a couple of weeks ago...
Not really a comprehensive pictorial guide, as i missed some pics and blurred some others....lol
Firstly, the kit:
Rocker Gasket
10 'O' rings for the above.
90* silcone pipe (I only needed the ends off this for the flame trap)
Stainless jubilee clips for silicone on flame trap
Throttle body gasket
Idle Control Valve gasket
Secondary Air Injection pipe
Genuine NGK R plugs (A bargain off ebay as they are in Unipart boxes lol)
Bosch Leads
Started with the throttle body...removed, stripped down and cleaned...including removing the throttle flap, and the coolant inlet/outlet (the pipes together on the right in 1st pic) as that was furred up with hard crystalised coolant and wasnt making a 100% seal on the pipes, and the pipes were abit blocked too, so that definitely needed doing...also removed and split the ICV while it was off and cleaned and lubed and refitted with new gasket.
All nice and clean:
Interesting job to do as i'd never done it before, and it went well apart from the throttle flap, i think its the wrong way up as i'm sure the number '4' stamped into it was underneath before, but i couldnt get it back in any other way....does it make a difference?....and the bloody tiny clip that holds the end of the throttle cable to the throttle body,, what an absolute pig to refit that was!!!
So, got that all rebuilt etc, cleaned up the mounting area on inlet manifold, made sure all breathers were clean and clear, sprayed halfg a can of carb cleaner into inlet manifold, and fitted new gasket:
Next i did the rocker cover and 'O' rings...no pics sorry.
Removed old one and old 'O'rings...cleaned it all up, and cleaned mating surface on cylinder head, used white spirit on the half moon bits on the right of the cylinder head to clean old oil trace etc, and applied a bead of silicone to both, and refitted rocker cover.....also replaced plugs and leads at that time.
The clips on the cover of the injector loom had been broken for years and it was loose, so tidied it up with cable ties:
Next was the flame trap connections and SAI pipe:
Cut about an inch off both ends of the 90* pipe i had, and fitted to the flame trap with new jubilees and fitted that back onto breather and rocker cover:
Fitted new SAI pipe, and put some insulation tape round where it rubs on the flame trap: (Bad design there really)
I left the car overnight for the silicone to set on the rocker cover gasket, and fired it up the next morning....and due to the carb cleaner i sprayed in, it coughed and spluttered and blew smoke out for about 5 mins LOL......feels 100% better now though, alot smoother
